In His Hands is one of seven films produced for Making CF History — a documentary campaign series for Vertex Pharmaceuticals following twelve families living with cystic fibrosis. Filmed in 2018 and 2019, the films captured a pivotal moment as disease-modifying modulators began reaching patients at scale. At the center is King, seven years old and still waiting for a modulator matching his variant — and his parents' quiet hope for something that could change the course of his life.

DIRECTOR’S Notes:
King’s story resides in the space between what medicine had already made possible and whom it had not yet reached. For me, it connected deeply: When we filmed them, my son was the same age as King, and my husband had just begun radiation treatment for cancer. I understood, in the most personal terms, what it means for someone you love to be waiting — for science to move fast enough, for a therapy to arrive in time, for the horizon to stay open. I didn't observe King's parents from a distance. I recognized them.
